Im guessing that the origin of "evil spirits" comes from the need to explain why, if God is wholly good, that certain bad things might happen to us. I suppose its easier to blame something on an evil spirit than on ones self, or that maybe God has a plan that doesnt necessarily appear to be wholly good in its effects.
I cant imagine that there are powerful beings that oppose the divine plan and allowed to interfere with it. If one would like to cite the bible for evil spirits I dont think Moses ever mentioned God saying that there were such things. I wonder where this concept really came from? Job has Satan as a son of God that is allowed to torment Job, and be in Gods presence which, according to Christian doctrine, evil isnt allowed in Gods presence, so saying Satan is evil is not correct.

Let's look at natural disaster. Is that an evil doing of satan? Or is it just the nature of universal works? A tornado occurs with the proper elements of heat, water, cool air and is a destructive force that has the potential to kill life if it's in the path of such. So, is that the act of satan? If the man living has good intentions with everything he does and is killed from the tornado, isn't that an unfortunate event of his choice of residence? Could it be that he himself was something for those that knew him a lesson of life and death and that no human body is immortal, but the existence of energy; be it positive or negative has given those with an open mind, who knew the man of good intentions an eye, ear and mind to try and understand the energy through his life and death? Those who grieve are attached to him and those with an open mind learn from him. Is learning (knowledge) satan? Eve ate from the tree of knowledge, but having knowledge is also having the option to keep your mind open to all things created and not solely focused on a set of rules that limit ones mind to a restricted understanding. Things happen for a reason......
I doubt that all things happen for a reason, but I do not doubt that some things are divinely orchestrated. The biggest reason for religion is to explain "why". The current religions think they have it all explained and so did the ones before these. Ultimately we can only theorize, but its that question that propels us forward.

Think about divinely orchestrated as in happening for a reason as a divinity of the unknown! Because one doesn't know the reason something happens does not mean it isn't a part of the universe/god orchestration in/of life.
I think the whole anti serpent imagery came about because of all the snake cults and reverence to the serpent of wisdom in so many cultures back then, that by making the serpent to be evil, it kept the hebrews away from migrating into their culture. Just my guess.
Also it doesnt give the serpent a name in the bible but somewhere along the way he is associated with Satan, I think just because of the anti god idea behind what Satan had developed into but again, Satan was not evil in Job, and evil is not allowed into the presence of God

So, upon reading about Aleister Crowley I stumble upon the talks about how eating human feces was something that was done. I'm sorry, but why the hell would anyone decide that's a good idea? True or not....extremeties to gain a cultish following for what reason exactly? If symbolism, math, energy, frequencies, language etc are the keys what key is there in eating human shit? Seriously?!!! I'm wise enough to know I'm definitely not the one to do such. Learning about the occult is one thing, but being involved in some dumb ass activities that aren't remotely necessary is a whole other level of stupidity at is classless!! Excuse my sailor mouth, but I'm free to express myself!

many of the highly publicized Witches are considered "Uncle Toms" by those in the Craft. They are capitalizing on the secret fears, hopes, and prejudices of the public-living down to the "images" expected of them, rather than living up to the true Craft standards. We object not to the publicity per se but to some of the false statements which only stigmatize true Witches. They are basically leeches and religious prostitutes, taking advantage of the current interest in the Old Religion, getting all they can out of belief in the Craft and putting nothing into it. Because of Karmic Law we know their days are numbered, but we didn't intend to be penalized because of their misdeeds.
