Song of the Day - Pennies
A song about coming to terms with moving on, but still bearing that seed of remembrance. Does one ever really forget?

Song of the Day: Mouths of Babes
A classic SP song about oral sex!
I kid, I kid...
Actually, the song seems to be about the generation of music fans in the 90's that followed the artistic revolution that was going on, and the general angst, disappointment and hope for the musical world itself, along with the ambient emotional world view of youth/young adults in that era. One fan has even suggested that the song may be a tribute to Kurt Cobain. I don't know about that myself, but the lyrics certainly do fit such a notion. If I recall correctly, the song seems to actually have been written somewhere between Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie era, which is right around the time Kurt died. Not completely sure of the timeline of the song writing though. All the same, it's a great, rockin' song with some real emotional depth.

Song of the Day: My Love Is Winter (Slow Version)
Too bad there isn't a studio recording of the slow version around (that we know of), as it was also great and captured a certain feeling very different from the fast, upbeat and more hopeful version on the Oceania album. This version captures more of the sorrow, loneliness and despair that Billy always illustrates so well - and still rocks out. The Winter season is the perfect metaphor: cold and barren, yet crystalline in remembrance, frozen in time to preserve a haunting beauty.

The slower version is lacking something though

Song of the Day: Zwan - Of A Broken Heart What I love about this song is the beautiful sense of fatalism that it expresses. Classic Corgan martyrhood in the name of love. The need to have it in your life, through your life, a way to stave off the sadness and loneliness....in the end, to die of a broken heart all the same. Looking at Billy's love life history, it's easy to see how he would write this song. Cheer up, Bollz! There's someone out there for you.

Song of the Day - Raindrops + Sunshowers
A song about love, God, and ultimately - the loneliness that comes in the misunderstanding of one who has experienced both. "The same old rain" that falls on everyone serves as a metaphor for the slings and arrows of tormented mortal life as the addictive heart-beat tempo pulses throughout with the urgency and need to communicate the deepest and truest feelings to the one(s) intended, but in the end, to only be impossible. Lost in the downpour of rain, all that can be seen is their obscure reflections.
One of my fav's.
