Hey y'all. Making a public keto diary here. For teh lolz.
I started (again) after a half year hiatus in which I gained back most of the weight I lost. I had lost a little over 20 pounds on it before...gained back probably 15 what with total dietary free fall (i.e., eating way too much crap) and the holidaze and also no exercise.
BUT!....I've already lost ~8 pounds in less than two weeks of keto. Aw yeah baby.
Anyway, it ain't too bad. Miss the grains at times, but there are substitutes. Miss the sugar at times, but there are substitutes. The rest of the time I'm just eating veggies, meat and cheese, with a few berries. Haven't started exercising yet, or even doing any periodic fasting (which is a real boost to the weight loss) but I'm already melting.
I started at 281. My goal baseline goal (i.e. bare minimum at which I declare "victory") is 199 which is what I weighed when I came back from my mission in Russia in 2008 and I looked pretty good, but I'd really like to get down to like 190 or 185. So I guess my real goal is 190 or 185. And of course have some improved/toned muscle on top of that, I don't wanna be skinny with no muscle.
Anyway, I'm 273 right now.

I'm rooting for you. Get active too! Thank god you can eat cheese still. You eat gluten free pizza now? Cauliflower crust pizza is pretty good. Don't know if there are grains in it I can eat anything with this job I have. It gets burned off for the most part

Thanks! Yeah, def. need to exercise on top of it. Just gotta be disciplined with my schedule. And yes, hooray for cheese. Yeah, I can eat pizza, the main idea is that it's gotta be "keto pizza," which means basically making our own crust - which will be some sort of combination usually of cream cheese, or cauliflower, or almond flour. Frozen cauliflower crust pizzas you can buy at the store are basically a no-no, there are usually a lot of hidden carbs in there. I'm trying to keep my daily intake of carbs around 21 grams, and grams of sugar, natural or not, as close to 0 as possible. You walking around a lot on your job? Mine is totally sedentary, which doesn't help.

Had a keto-friendly salad from Chipotle today. The wife is on keto too so she also had a salad, but she only needs to lose maybe 10 or 15 pounds. So I go there with her and my daughter and of course I gotta get my daughter a kids meal.
So 2 salads and a kids meal from Chipotle = 24 bucks and some change. Screeeew that. Way over-priced. I love me some Chipotle but that's not worth it.
Next time, we're making our own Mexican keto salads.

Chipotle isn't even that good anymore. Especially when you have more authentic places to eat at now. Taco Taxi for example has amazing street tacos

Yeah. It's rough missing the carbs and sugar, at times. Kind of gives you motivation to lose more weight more quickly so you can eat it all again, haha. But then you gotta learn to eat right and eat healthy.
We went to a small social gathering on Monday so it was a cheat day, but it's taken a week to get back into weight loss mode. Frustrating.
Meanwhile, just eating taco salads at home now. Pretty dang good, especially when I'm saving money.
And yeah, we have one Chipotle in my town....I always like the food but the service there kinda suuuuucks. And in general, I kind of hate these assembly line food joints where you have to tell everyone what you want. I'd rather just make that crap myself and skip the middle man who fudges everything up.

Well, SO fell off the wagon and went into free-fall. Excuses were kid's birthdays and I think just general stress.
Getting back on it though. It's happening!

Fuck diets lol I understand though! I appreciate food so damn much. I dont gain though since work kicks my ass daily. Made cake on sunday, and easter fattening dinner, ordered pizzas & wings (no not some shitty pizza company) the other day...let's just say I will never give up cheese or bread!

Food is happiness....cheese and bread, oh yeah.
Big issue for me is the psychological reward factor. I feel like I "deserve" something. Which, as God as my witness, I really do. But it's so dang bad for me.
Need to get used to the idea of choosing better options.
Funny thing - my wife is doing an online baking class right now and making really fancy, gourmet desserts at home and wants me to try them. She is insisting I try them, just a little. Even if dieting. Gonna be hard!

I wish my job made me lose weight. But no, my job is totally sedentary. You're on your feet a lot, yeah?

I was on my feet a lot. 8+ hours a day at work. Now not even close and I am loving it ๐
