That's not so pleasant of a saying now. Just read about the homeless crisis, rent increases and something about renters not being protected. It's a sanctuary state and the homeless population is growing. So how's California helping the people get a place to live instead of living on the streets? Can't be all drug addicts that are homeless.
Why would anyone want to live there with sky rocketing rent and overpriced for damn near everything?

Seattle is pretty shitty too.
Hell, we just had 175 overdoes in a 2 week span and that's not including the past 2 days. Although not all of those are homeless folks OD'ing.
City here is not that great. Although they are trying to upscale it. Hard to do with folks who can't stay out of trouble and utilize resources to get on a better path in life. Tired of the city, but that's where I am for the time being.

My youngest daughter is in the process of buying her first home, it is a townhouse and the price is 400k!!! Rent is so much in the area they are looking to move, they figured just buy and pay mortgage since it is about the same as it would be to rent..but at least this way, they build their own equity and not just throw all that money towards someone else's equity...they already have other states in mind where they want to move to in maybe 5 years or so...

Totally understandable. Does the town home have association fees too? Many typically do. At least here they do. Not entirely sure what that covers as I' probably different for any town home community.

Yes has hoa fees, but from what I hear, most neighborhoods in the city they are moving to have hoa fee's..even for homes...

That'd be a way to get people to take care of the neighborhood/homes instead of folks not maintaining the outside of the home and making it look like a fucking ghetto shit hole. Eh, whatever.

Apparently the area they are moving to, many neighborhoods have hoa fees, something doing with keeping the beltways, etc maintained? Up here, only gated communities have them...I personally am not one to live in a community where all the homes look alike...I don't like tract housing...

Apartments are all looking the same too....and that's what's being the focus in cities is building .ore and more apartments that they call "affordable housing" except it's not affordable for most people.

Yeah I've seen photos of LA homeless problem. It seems terrible.
We have problems like Chicago around here. I said it years ago, but got worse this summer. Groups of criminals attacking people and robbing them in downtown as they walk by. Violent crime rose by 50% downtown. Tired of it. Can't just pick up & move either at this time.
